Writing Studio Faculty and Staff Resources
One-with-One Consultations and Resources
As a writer, you already know the benefits of including peer review in your writing process. The Writing Studio gives your students the same advantage. We are happy to work with students at all stages of the writing process by scheduling students for 30- or 60-minute, one-on-one consultations.
You can encourage your students to schedule appointments with us by including information about the Writing Studio in your syllabus. You can also show your students the resources available on our website.
Finally, you may email us to request a member of the Writing Studio staff to visit your class to talk to your students about our services.
Workshops
The Writing Studio has developed a number of workshops that provide targeted instruction on different aspects of academic writing. All workshops are led by Writing Studio staff members who will present in your classroom. If you would like to request a workshop, please email details about the workshop you would like and information about your class (e.g., class name, location, number of students enrolled, possible dates for the workshop). We generally like to plan workshops a semester in advance, but request at least three weeks notice before the first possible dates for the workshop.
Introduction to the Writing Studio: A Writing Studio staff member will visit the classroom and briefly explain the services offered by the Writing Studio. (10 minutes)
MLA Formatting: A consultant will review basic MLA formatting. If a modified version of MLA is preferred, please indicate those preferences in the Workshop Request Form. (30 minutes)
APA Formatting: A consultant will review basic APA formatting. When filling out the Workshop Request Form, please indicate whether the consultant should discuss levels. (30 minutes)
