Dean Paul Luepke hosted the Summer Cookout Over the noon hour on Monday, May 18th for faculty and staff to celebrate the end of the semester and enjoy some well-deserved time together. A long-standing school tradition, the event had been on hiatus for several years. Everyone was thrilled that Dean Luepke brought it back last year, and we are happy to say the Summer Cookout is an annual tradition once again!
This year, we wanted to celebrate our School of Dentistry staff especially for such an amazing year. Department Chairs sponsored door prizes and giveaways for staff and Dr. Makini King, Assistant Dean for Engagement and Well Being, hosted trivia inside, while Dean Luepke, Jeff Primos, Assistant Dean for Business Affairs and Strategic Initiatives and
Alec Zier, Sr. Executive Assistant to the Dean, grilled hamburgers and hotdogs outdoors.
It was truly a team effort - thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible! Vicki Van Noy, Niya Williams and Jeff Primos from the school’s Business Office made sure everything we needed was on hand. Richie Bigham, Assistant Dean for Student Programs, and members of the Office of Student Programs, Drs. Satheesh and Smith, Associate Deans in the school’s Clinic Administration, our School Security Officer David Lucas, and Sharlyn Mills, Supervisor, CSR all lent helping hands to ensure an amazing event. Thanks to Bill Marse from BMC for his assistance promoting the event, as well as Roy Potter, also from BMC, and Dr. King for keeping the energy up with their music selections. Thank you as well to Derrick Benitz, staff, photographer from MCOM, for capturing all the great moments. Finally, thanks to everyone who stayed after to help clean up, especially Maria Gonzalez, Jammy Molina, Ruben Weaver Jr., and “Patricia” Barajas Mendez.
It was great to see so many folks enjoying time together, catching up over lunch, and enjoying the terrific prizes. We will see you all next year for the third annual cookout!
