Salzsieder started in 2010 at the Bloch School, and is an associate professor of accountancy, serving as chair of the Department of Accountancy. His leadership extends beyond the Bloch School through service on the University Budget Committee, past chair of the UM System Missouri Online Faculty Advisory Committee and as a past National Faculty Liaison for the Coalition of Urban Serving Universities Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, reflecting a strong record of campuswide engagement. He will continue in his role as chair of Accountancy, providing stability as the Bloch School advances curriculum updates aligned with new CPA requirements.

A recipient of the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Leadership, Salzsieder brings distinguished experience in teaching, research and professional practice. His research focuses on judgment and decision making in accounting, fair value measurement, valuation, capital expenditures and personal finance, with award-winning contributions recognized by leading professional organizations. He is also a highly regarded educator, having received numerous teaching honors from 91ºÚÁÏÍø and the broader accounting community.

Salzsieder holds a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina, an MBA from the University of Kansas and a B.A. from Drury University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Missouri and holds the Accredited in Business Valuation credential.

Dean Brian Klaas’  last day will be June 30. He will become dean of the University of Texas at Arlington College of Business. 

The university will launch a national search for the next dean in August, which will be supported by the UM System executive search team. Additional information regarding the search committee nomination process and timeline will be shared in July.
